Quantum teleportation

Transferring an unknown qubit state using a shared Bell pair plus two classical bits.

The original is destroyed in the process (no cloning), and nothing moves faster than light — the receiver cannot reconstruct the state until the two classical bits arrive.

  • Bell state — One of four maximally entangled two-qubit states; the simplest and most-used form of entanglement.
  • No-communication theorem — Entanglement cannot be used to send information: nothing done to one half changes the statistics seen at the other.
  • No-cloning theorem — There is no process that makes an independent copy of an arbitrary unknown quantum state.
